We are excited to present our sixth edition of the Monsoon Butoh Retreat!

Monsoon is a truly magical time in Goa when the nature awakens to its full luscious expression, or rather our senses become so sensitive to its powerful ancient pulsations. Hence what on the surface is an intensive hands-on dance training, is also a celebration of the art spirit in the community and a massive milestone on one's individual DANCE PATH.

Butoh is so hard to describe from any objective angle, because the subjective experience of dancing butoh is like entering the GREAT MYSTERY. Being rooted in the BODY, it is however a safe way to journey, to navigate worlds within yourself. Do you sometimes get this urge of stripping naked and crawling in the mud like a caterpillar? When did we loose our right to a cave person? Our bodies are divided from its earthly mother essence by no more than a million of social constructs forced upon them. "The Rebellion of The Body", the original manifesto performace stage by Butoh's founder Tatsumi Hijikata is still screaming to us!

I cannot wait to meet you in the beautiful studio of jungle dance, and share this beautiful dance practice i learnt in Japan, and been teaching, practicing, researching for the last more than ten years. We have graduated a number of beautiful butoh performers over these years, and even starred in an Oscar-nominated movie Mahamantra by Girish Malik! OMMMM
